Ann Patterson

Cabinet Secretary, Office of the Governor

Ann Patterson is the Cabinet Secretary for California Governor Gavin Newsom where she advises the Governor on policy and oversees agencies and departments within the Administration. Previously, Patterson served as the Governor’s Legal Affairs Secretary, advising the Governor’s Office on a broad range of legal issues and overseeing litigation to which the Governor or the State of California is a party. Ann has more than 20 years’ experience in the public and private sectors in California and nationally. Prior to joining the Newsom Administration, Ann was a partner at Orrick, Herrington, and Sutcliffe, where she practiced from 2005 until 2018.
